What This Tool Checks
Four checks run over your text: mixed Australian/US spelling pairs from a fixed list ("colour"/"color", "organise"/"organize", "centre"/"center", and dozens more) — flagged only when both spellings appear in the same document; mixed -ise/-ize endings across different word stems; the same compound word styled both hyphenated and as two separate words (like "well-known" and "well known"); and mixed spelled-out and digit numbers (like "three" and "3") in the same text.
Why It's Tuned for Australian English
Australian spelling is listed first in every pair the tool checks. Words with genuine dual usage in Australian English — like "programme"/"program" or "licence"/"license" as noun versus verb — are deliberately left out of the list to avoid false positives.
What It Won't Catch
This tool only flags inconsistency within your own text — using both spellings of the same word — not whether an individual word is the "correct" Australian spelling if you've used it consistently throughout. It checks these four specific patterns only, not every possible style inconsistency.
